The moment I decided I wanted to be writer occurred when I was sixteen. It was actually more of a series of moments, lunch hours to be precise. I was working an internship at a brokerage firm and being less than the chatty sort I ate quickly and was left with a sizable block of uninterrupted time each day. To occupy myself I started scribbling my thoughts on various topics in the back of a spiral bound notebook. Free from the tyranny of grades and teacher’s expectations, I found the exercise to be both enjoyable and therapeutic. Unfortunately, my early writing did not materialize into a coherent work, but it started the wheels turning.

Afterwards, I shifted my attention to further college education. Enrolled in Northwood University, I pursued a degree in banking and finance, graduating two years later with my BBA. I was nineteen at the time. All initial attempts at finding employment in my field were unsuccessful and it left me in a peculiar situation. I had graduated early and while I wanted to get a job, I did not have the sense of urgency I imagine someone graduating at the typical age would have had. As I sat contemplating my future one night, my parents brought up the subject of writing. It was something I had honestly not considered in earnest since my internship, and the more I thought about it the more it appealed to me. The next day I set about the task of streamlining some thoughts that had been rattling around in my head, and that night I created the first chapter of what I entitled A Crack in the Shadow.

Since the first chapter, I devoted myself increasingly to the task of perfecting the art of writing while exploring the ins and outs of the publishing industry. Starting out hopelessly naïve, it has been a difficult journey so far and is one that is not over yet, but I am determined to persevere until I reach my goal.

My writing is fueled by a potent mixture of vivid imagination, insatiable curiosity, and a lifelong admiration for science fiction and fantasy. From movies to television to books to video games, I am always exploring new avenues of inspiration to aid me in the creation of fantastical worlds and captivating characters and scenarios. Putting my thoughts down on paper infuses them with an exhilarating sense of realism, and since that lunch hour at the brokerage firm, it has been my dream to share the imaginings of my mind with the rest of the world.
